The paper is the point. At 160gsm it takes fountain pen ink, marker and heavy ballpoint without showing through to the reverse, which is unusual at this size and means both sides of every page are usable. The dot grid is printed light enough to disappear in a finished drawing.

Swiss binding lets the book lie completely flat from the first page rather than after it has been broken in, so writing across a spread is practical. There are 192 pages, two silk ribbon markers, an expandable pocket inside the rear cover and an elastic closure.

The cover is a vegan leather over board, stitched rather than glued at the spine. The matching pen is machined aluminium in matte slate with a 0.5mm rollerball refill, and takes standard international refills so it stays useful once the original runs out.
